20th Annual Hunger
Walk Run Is September 17
On Saturday September 17, LCS will hold its 20th Annual Walk Run. Each year, hundreds of people gather in Wilmington’s Rockford Park to participate. In addition to the fun, people can feel good about the help they are providing LCS’s emergency food ministries for low income people in our community. 100% of the funds raised go to buy food that LCS distributes from 12 separate locations. The funds raised (our goal is $50,000!) are especially important in light of the increased demand for help from those less fortunate than ourselves in a struggling economy. The Walk Run and associated events all start promptly at 9 a.m. The main event is the 5k fun run. For those not up to the distance – especially the young and old – we have a 1 mile, shaded, in the park walk. Then for youth, there is a competitive 5k run. All are invited. Bring your friends!
